AND THAT MEANS THERE WILL BE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE, OUT SHOPPING AND CELEBRATING THE SEASON.

WE ALSO FOUND OUT THERE WILL BE GROUPS PLANNING PROTESTS FOR SEVERAL DIFFERENT REASONS.

JEFF: SO WE WANT TO KNOW WHAT POLICE HAVE PLANNED FOR ALL THE ACTIVITY.

REPORTER: AS WE KNOW, BLACK FRIDAY IS A BIG DAY FOR RETAILERS, BUT IT'S ALSO A BIG DAY FOR PROTESTS.

MANY OF THEM AGAINST CONSUMERISM.

FROM BLACK FRIDAY SALES, TO THE MACY'S PARADE, TO THE ANNUAL CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING.

LOTS OF PEOPLE WILL BE OUT STARTING WITH THE PARADE IN THE MORNING, INTO THE AFTERNOON, LEADING TO THE TREE LIGHTING.

REPORTER: PETE IS WITH PORTLAND POLICE.

HE SAYS THEY WILL ADD MORE OFFICERS FOR THE WEEKEND.

THEY WILL ALSO HAVE A ROBUST SECURITY PLAN IN PLACE.

MOST RECENTLY, THE ANTI-TRUMP PROTESTS.

SOME OF THAT IS TO BE EXPECTED.

GENERALLY, IF WE ENCOUNTER A PROTEST THAT IS A PROBLEM, WE WILL ADDRESS THEM.

AS FOR SHOPPERS, THEY HAVE THIS ADVICE FOR ANYONE DRIVING DOWNTOWN.

LOCK UP YOUR VALUABLES IN YOUR CAR, OR KEEP THEM IN THE TRUNK.

BE CLEAN ON THE INSIDE.

WE DON'T WANT PEOPLE BUYING GIFTS, PUTTING THEM IN THE CAR, AND THEN HAVING THE CAR STOLEN.

OR BROKEN INTO.
